Security
Customer data is very important to us.
We have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that any information communicated or stored in our servers conforms with the Data Protection Act 1998 ¹ and that both physical and application security measures follow IT security best practice.
Application Security² of the greenest office:
- Access is based on the permission level of users – only users with the required authority can access certain system functions
- Pages are encrypted with 128kb SSL
- SQL data (database) is encrypted at a server level
- An automatic system timeout occurs if the system is not used in the specified time
Physical security³ of the greenest office:
- Access only via ID card
- Alarm system
- Security service on duty
- Observation cameras and video recording
- Several live-webcams
- Smoke detector
- Water detector
- Modular UPS
Data is regularly ‘backed-up’ to secure servers and our service operates at 99.99% uptime (with planned downtime/maintenance reported with notice on our website).
¹ Data Protection Act 1998. (1998) London: Stationery Office.
² Application security encompasses measures taken throughout the application’s life-cycle to prevent exceptions in the security policy of an application or the underlying system (vulnerabilities) through flaws in the design, development, deployment, upgrade, or maintenance of the application http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
³ Physical security describes measures that are designed to deny access to unauthorized personnel from physically accessing a building, facility, resource, or stored information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
